What is a Christian Science Nurse?

Christian Science nurses embrace and cherish the divine nature of every patient by constantly acknowledging God’s omnipresence and witnessing the Christ in action. A Christian Science nurse recognizes the importance of the mental and spiritual environment surrounding the patient. With joyful patience, Christian Science nurses maintain an atmosphere of calm, comfort, and healing, while lovingly caring for your physical needs.

Christian Science nurses are dedicated members of The First Church of Christ, Scientist. Their nursing practice is founded on Article VIII, Section 31 of the Church Manual – the bylaw states:

“A member of The Mother Church who represents himself or herself as a Christian Science nurse shall be one who has a demonstrable knowledge of Christian Science practice, who thoroughly understands the practical wisdom necessary in a sick room, and who can take proper care of the sick.

The cards of such persons may be inserted in the Christian Science Journal under the rules established by the publishers.”
